Print Production Planner

(VANCOUVER)

Permanent Full Time Position

MET Fine Printers is seeking a Print production planner to join their planning team at our Vancouver production facility. MET Fine Printers, founded in 1977, is an International award-winning Vancouver, BC-based carbon neutral printing company serving the Vancouver, Calgary, Victoria, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Honolulu markets. We have built up a reputation for ultra-high quality sheet-fed and digital print products, complimented by leading edge new media offerings (VR, AR, 3D renderings) with operations in Vancouver and Calgary.

This is a unique opportunity for an analytical and detail oriented person who is ready to make a change. Candidates must possess a high work ethic, attention to detail, excellent communication, with practical organizational skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment and have a proven record of successfully dealing with end clients and above all a positive attitude.

The successful candidate to have a preferred minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in the printing field and has demonstrated proficiency in taking charge of the details and communication around corporate accounts. An external qualification in printing or planning, or commensurate industry experience would be required.


  • Knowledgeable of fine paper
  • Knowledgeable of electronic planning software (general concept)
  • Familiar with layout impositions
  • Familiar with printing project workflows
  • Prior experience in a digital planning role is considered an asset

Reponsibilities

  • Plan production print projects using MET's MIS Software
  • Plan litho and special projects as needed
  • Monitor new jobs for your sales reps on DSF order site
  • Prepare work back schedules with coordination of scheduler
  • Coordinate projects within Metropolitan and internal customers
  • Coordinate projects with outside trade and finishing companies
  • Bill and maintain projects budgets,
  • Order Ink drawdowns / Ink
  • Attending daily production meeting
  • Coordinate daily with paper purchaser / scheduling
  • Order paper / mill order papers as require on projects (or coordinate with purchasing)
  • Meet with assigned sales reps daily or as required
  • Communicate with clients whenever possible to streamline information flow
  • Attend / direct and schedule project specific meetings with department stakeholders as required

  • Monitor and report on weekly WIP list of projects
  • Write and Develop SOP (Standard operating procedures) as needed to clarify workflows and work instructions

  • Technical Diploma or equivalent external qualification in printing or industry experience is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of consultative B2B customer service and or sales experience.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills essential, customer service driven attitude and sales driver orientation
  • High organizational skills. Proven ability to own sales opportunities through all cycles of the sales process, from qualifying leads, uncovering and identifying the needs, fostering the relationship, to closing deals
  • Outgoing, open to change, self-driven, high energy, positive personality, active listener and goal oriented
  • Excellent organizational, communication, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Experience with CRM/database tools is a definite asset
  • Occasional travel required but minimal

  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment, have great attention to detail, and experience managing rapidly changing projects.
  • Experience in print media.

Responsibilities

  • Increase overall sales revenues by maintaining and growing assigned and new customer base through rapport building and providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Contact historical and current customer bases to identify and secure new sales opportunities; provide potential clients with information on our products and services with a strong focus on opportunity spotting and the advantages of product upgrades.
  • Work closely with customers to determine their requirements, and make cost-effective and innovative recommendations related to their required communication products and services.
  • Regular and routine follow-up on open quotations.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to management on customer challenges, competitive business practices, and other needed business activities.
  • Provide business planning, order forecasting, business prioritization recommendations, and other business needs as appropriate to management, through weekly pipeline reporting.
